Performance Management Excellence Models

Performance Management Excellence Models are frameworks that help the organisation to focus its strategy and initiatives in a systematic and structured way, which should lead to increased performance.

The excellence models aim to assess outstanding practices in managing the organisation and achieving results, all based on a set of fundamental concepts or values. The practices have evolved during time into models used worldwide, for how an organization should operate in order to achieve great performance and results.

Countries and continents developed their own models, using them as frameworks to assess and recognize through awards programmes the performance among organisations.

The best known excellence models are:

  • Australian Business Excellence Framework (ABEF) - Australia
  • Baldrige (MBNQA) – Used in over 25 countries including US and NZ
  • Canadian Business Excellence Model - Canada
  • Deming Prize - Japan
  • European Foundation for Quality Management (EFQM) – Used throughout Europe
  • Japan Quality Award Model - Japan
  • Juran Quality Award Model - Romania
  • Singapore Quality Award Model - Singapore

These models are internationally recognised for providing a framework to assist the adoption of business excellence principles and assuring an effective way of measuring how thoroughly this adoption has been incorporated.
